Reading = sunburn

Yesterday was a warm and sunny day in Cleveland. I decided for the first time this summer, I would lay out in the sun and attempt to get a tan. I donned my swimsuit, got comfy with my lounge chair, my raspberry-apple vitamin water, sunglasses and a book. Well, I got completely wrapped up in what I was reading, and ended up staying out there for waaay too long. It wasn't until that evening that I turned red. I resembled a lobster and boy did it sting! I'm feeling a bit better today, but I'm still rather magenta colored. I'm posting a picture that I took last night. Check out those tan lines! Ouch! It's actually kind of humorous, because I've never been one to burn. On summer trips to Cedar Point, I'd end up with a nice tan, while my friends who spent the day constantly lathering themselves with sunscreen and wearing big t-shirts, still ended up burnt by the end of the day. So, I've learned my lesson this time! Gladly, it's already starting to fade into a tan, so it's all good, as long as I don't peel... or wind up with skin cancer...

What was I reading you ask? (Well, maybe you didn't ask, but I'm going to tell you anyway!) One of the things I love about summer vacation is having the time to read for myself again. During the school year, I'm always loaded down with so much homework and reading for school, that I rarely have time to read for pleasure. So far this summer, I've read both of John Green's novels: An Abundance of Katherines and Looking For Alaska, the latter being the one that assisted my getting burnt. I liked both books, but Looking For Alaska was my favorite of the two. I can't wait for Paper Towns! Before that though, I've decided to read Gone With the Wind. Believe it or not, I've never seen the movie. I've wanted to for a long time, but this summer I've decided that I want to read the book first. I prefer to read books before I see the movies made about them, otherwise I probably wouldn't read the books. There's something kind of off-putting about knowing the outcome of the story. However, I love seeing a movie after I read the book. I better get started on Gone With The Wind soon though, because it's 1037 pages! It's kind of sad that it's so gigantic and heavy, so I can't stick it in my purse. I usually like to carry paperbacks with me to read if boredom strikes while I'm out and about. Oh well.

Owwww! Sunburn is the worst ever! Still, Looking For Alaska is almost worth it. I love that book so freaking much. It was my favourite out of the two as well. We're like, twins. =D
